How neuroscience and mindset can help with parenting adolescents

I have recently been introduced to 2 books  that have inspired me as a coach and helped me as a parent to be more responsive and more effective and I share them here in case the information they hold is of value to anyone else.

The first one is Brainstorm by Daniel Siegel about adolescent brain development (neuroscience), it’s impact on behaviour and how we can embrace, enhance and make the most of this time in our children’s lives. It also helps us understand how we can apply what we learn to enhance our own lives.

As both a coach and the parent of an adolescent at the beginning of this journey, I have learnt so much and it is helping me out enormously. Click on the link below – He summarises it better than I can!

The second book is Mindset by Carol Dweck. In this book she presents information about two different mindsets, fixed mindset and growth mindset. She shows us the importance of fostering a growth mindset in ourselves and our children and also tells us how we can do that and why.

Would love to hear your thoughts and any other recommended books, blogs on this subject.
