Seeking Shared Understanding in the Workplace

Anais Nin said “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are”…

The words that we say may not be heard and understood in the way they were meant and the words that we hear and interpret may not be meant in the way that we think. Becasue of this sometimes the intention of communication doesn’t match the outcome.

Misunderstandings in communcation between individuals and teams can occur then, because of the different meanings people give to the same words.

Clarifying meanings and seeking to understand is a good begining to bridging this potential gap in the workplace.
