Leadership for Women

We live in an increasingly complex society. Text messages, Facebook, Instagram and email not only connect us instantly with people around the world but also seem to more and more dominate our interactions with family, friends and work colleagues. As a consequence, personal conversations happen less frequently and can become challenging.

At the same time, as women, we are required to be leaders in many roles in our lives. We have to lead ourselves, we lead our families, and we lead at work and in our communities. Hence, the development of interpersonal and leadership skills is critical to succeed in our professional and private life.

Our ability to better understand, empathise and negotiate with the people around us will be the key to success and ultimately pave the way to a happier life.

However, most people are not born with the leadership skills, knowledge and behaviours that they need. They have to learn them. And as women tend to lead differently, so we need to learn leadership differently.

For this reason, here you can learn leadership in one of three ways to suit all budgets and lifestyles .

  • Through leadership coaching (see more information below)
  • Through online learning
  • Through combining online learning with leadership coaching

Women in Leadership is an intensive leadership development program (valued at $199 plus GST) delivered to you online. It is a self-paced learning experience based on 12 modules, which means that you can do it at any time from anywhere. With an investment of 1.5 to 2 hours per week, you will complete the course after 12 weeks. Of course, you can do it quicker or take longer depending on your needs and lifestyle. Log in whenever you like wherever you like and at a time that suits you. All you need is a computer and Internet connection.

Women in Leadership provides strategies and tools to master the art of leadership, which means, for example, that you will boost your confidence in your decision-making process. Plus, you will change your actions towards more resourceful behaviours. As a consequence, you will improve your time management skills, which means that you will optimise your work-life balance, set priorities and free up more time for the things you love.

Women in Leadership is for women between 30 and 55, who want to develop and improve their leadership skills, learn strategies and tools to master everyday leadership challenges and become excellent leaders in their private and professional life.

My coaching philosophy is that we each have the resources within us that we need to achieve our goals and my role is to connect you to your resources as you build on existing or build new capabilities. I work in a person centred way, seeking to understand and work with people in a collaborative way. I don’t ‘tell too’, rather, I help people find their own solutions (although if you don’t know what you don’t know at any time, I will help you out!). I approach both coaching and life from a positive psychology perspective in which wellbeing is really important. The wellbeing definition I like is from Martin Seligman and includes, experiencing positive emotions, feeling engaged, having positive relationships, finding meaning and accomplishing things.

Coaching is from a strengths perspective and is both behaviour and strategy focused according to your identified needs. I focus on outcomes and am supportive while providing a level of challenge that will help you achieve the leadership development changes that you are looking for. Before we begin working together we will find out together the coaching approach and level of challenge that best suits you.

Together we will determine the coaching style you prefer and I regularly seek feedback to ensure I am adding value to you and you are happy with your coaching.

The number of sessions required varies from person to person and together, over time, we will determine the optimum number for you.

As a rough guide, six sessions take between 3 and 6 months to complete

You will not be locked into a package and if at any time either of us believes that the relationship is not working, either can terminate it.

All coaching begins with an evaluation or assessment of where you currently are in the area of focus you have chosen for coaching which is followed by a session that focuses on goal setting.

Women have a choice of assessment / evaluation methodologies which I will recommend after an initial complementary consultation. These include:

  • Clifton Strengths Finder
  • 360 degree feedback
  • Extended DISC

All coachees have access to unlimited email contact with me during business hours and are provided with resources according to need and interest throughout the coaching relationship.
